Dead of Night's Submit-A-Slayer

Wed Sep 23, 2009 8:27 pm // 3 comments // Katasdf

Hello Dead of Night community!

The mod's development has been going great. Much has been happening in regards to media, including both 3d and concept.

Now that the balls in full motion, we'd love to hear what the community has to offer for the character and weapon load outs of the mod.

That being said, we're giving the community (you) the opportunity to submit a slayer class you'd like to see in the mod. However, don't just give us a name.. gives us EVERYTHING you can think of about the character you submit. (see below for a list of information you should include).
There's no limit, submit as many separate characters as you'd like (post each in it's own thread)

--------------------------------------------------

Character Guidelines:

Name:

Age:

Physical Characteristics:

Weapon load outs:

-

Attitude (optional):

Character Background (optional):

Anything else you'd like to add (optional):

Feel free to include pictures or reference regarding physical looks as well.

--------------------------------------------------

Please keep all submissions to the 'Submit-A-Slayer' forum only.

We can't wait to see what you guys come up with. Who knows, your character might very well be the next popular slayer class! :D

Let the ideas roll!

General Update + Help needed.

Wed Sep 09, 2009 10:57 pm // 0 comments // Rottenbeard

Hey Folks,

Rottenbeard here filling in for Katasdf on the news front because he's busy doing.. um.. whatever it is he does (nothing?).
Things have been progressing fairly well over the last couple weeks in terms of game play on the mod, Feared has been getting much of the core elements implemented including the functioning round system (with full server variable control), full class implementation and the unique movement abilities of the vampires. Even in it's current state, the game already is a lot of fun to play once a few guys are on the server, especially when i'm shooting the vampires in the face with the currently ridiculously overpowered shotgun (bahaha).

While the core game mechanics are coming into place, we are, unfortunately, severely lacking on the art asset side of the mod. Specifically, we are in dire need of weapon modelers. We need a modeler who is capable of making both low and high poly, accurate renditions of a wide assortment of weapons (from older to modern in style). The applicant should have a decent understanding of how to model in order to facilitate proper animation. Additionally, while we don't require it, the ability to UV map the weapons you model is a big plus.

If you think you've got what it takes and you want to give us a hand, please take a moment to submit an application (with previous work) on the application portion of our forums.

Dead of Night Site Opens + Programming Updates

Sat Aug 29, 2009 4:25 pm // 10 comments // Katasdf

After a week or two of pain-staking hard work (STAKING, haha, get it?), the site is FINALLY done! That being said, head over to http://www.donmod.com and see the final product!

The site is beneficial, as it offers multiple ways to stay connected to the mod. Such as:
- Our ModDB Page (DoN @ ModDB)
- Our Facebook Page (DoN @ Facebook)
- Our Steam Group (DoN Steam Group)
- Our Forums (Dead of Night Forums)
- Our Twitter Account (Dead of Night Twitter)

In addition, we recommend anyone who supports the mod to sign up to the forums and join in on any discussion. We have room for suggestions on just about anything. The more input you give us, the more we can apply to the final product.

On the flip side, a lot of programming has been going on lately. FeareD has been working hard since he first joined the team. We've currently implemented:
- Round-based game play
- All classes and weapon (placeholders)
- Vampire High Jump
- Vampire Long Jump
- The first Vampire special ability (not yet to be announced)

You can look forward to a 'secretive' news post within the next week. Let us give you a hint, it's a behind the scenes video and it involves fruit! We'll leave the rest up to your imagination :)

That's about all for now! Continue to keep watch for more Dead of Night updates.

Until next time!

Dead of Night - Media Release #1

Tue Aug 11, 2009 12:44 am // 0 comments // Katasdf

Hello all Dead of Night fans! It's time for a media release! We'd like to start off with introducing the newest addition to our team! Our new concept artist is Lingmerth (See his profile here: Moddb.com ) Please welcome him, he's done some already great work! He has taken the most basic of ideas and turned them into some true artwork! That being said, Image

Here's our new and official logo, done by myself (Katasdf).

"Reverand Concept Art" by Lingmerth

This is the first of our slayer concepts. Completed by our concept artist Lingmerth, the model follows the same grungy feel we had originally imagined. We're really glad to have this piece, and are now just looking to have it modeled to be placed in game.

"Dead of Night Theme" by Rottenbeard

This is our dead of night theme. Most likely to be used in both game menu, and possibly loading screens.

We're soon to have more media ready for release. Also, the site is in progress and we're really excited to get it up and running! In addition, we're currently working on a few DEV videos to show off the code we already have done, hopefully to spark some interest in the community.

Until next time!
